Do I need to register to vote?

SG MAI · Elections & voting

• For Portuguese citizens living in Portugal, registration is automatic: you must have your Cartão de Cidadão (Citizen Card) address up to date.
• If the CC address is wrong, you vote in the freguesia of the registered address — update it before the election.
• Residents abroad and foreign citizens with voting rights have their own rules — check your situation at the source.
